Kids Q Team of the Year

OKBS is excited to announce the Kids Q Cleaver Team of the year in 2020. OKBS will begin tracking a team of the year points for qualifying Kid’s Q events. You will now be able to see how your young cooks stack up against other kids across the state just like the pros. To qualify for the OKBS Kids Q Cleaver Team of the Year points chase, the parent or legal guardian of the participating Kids Q head cook must have a current family membership with OKBS.

Kids Q teams that enter and participate in one of the following categories: 10 & Under (one meat per contest) or 11 yrs-15 yrs(one meat per contest) will receive the perks other members get. At the end of the year at the last Kids Q competition, we will award the top 3 teams in each category with a trophy and recognition on the OKBS website and social media. Scoring will be based on that teams four (4) highest scoring contests of the season.

  1. For a Kid’s Q contest to be recognized, it must be sanctioned and follow the rules of that sanctioning body. The sanctioning body must sanction more than 5 contests and publish the top 10 results for the overall and categories of the contests.

  2. For each age group, the teams 4 highest-ranking contests will be counted.

The scoring system to be used in accordance with your placement in the OKBS. View cleaver cookoff placement/points at the bottom. Bonus points will be awarded and added to your placement scores in accordance with the number of teams in each contest using the overall team count, maxing at 5 teams.

  1. In the case of a tie, the teams 5th best contest will be counted. If only 4 contests were cooked, then a score of zero will be used for the 5th contest.

  2. A parent or legal guardian of the teamʼs head cook must have a current family member with OKBS prior to the awards of a contest being announced, or those results will not be counted.

  3. The Kids Q head cook and a parent or legal guardian must be present for the cookoff.

  4. Contests in the State of Oklahoma that agree and have met all criteria will count for OKBS Kids Q of the Year. Contests in States that border Oklahoma may apply to become a Kids Q Team of the Year contest by submitting their contest application for approval from the OKBS Board of Directors. Applications received before the second Tuesday of each month will be reviewed at that month's board meeting.
